CDM register

The CDM register helps practices meet their obligations under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. It records hazards identified during design, the mitigation applied, and the residual risk.

What the CDM register covers

Under CDM 2015, designers have a duty to identify and eliminate or reduce foreseeable risks during construction, use, maintenance and demolition. The Haunch CDM register is a structured log of those risks against a project.

NoteHaunch provides a tool to record CDM obligations — it is not a substitute for professional judgement on CDM compliance. Always refer to the HSE guidance and your practice's CDM procedures.

Adding a risk entry

  1. 1Open a project and go to the CDM tab.
  2. 2Click + New risk.
  3. 3Describe the hazard — for example "Confined space access for maintenance of underground drainage".
  4. 4Set the risk level before mitigation: Low, Medium or High.
  5. 5Describe the design mitigation applied.
  6. 6Set the residual risk level after mitigation.
  7. 7Click Save.

Exporting the register

Click Export register to download a PDF of all CDM entries for the project. This can be included in the Health and Safety file issued to the client at practical completion.

TipExport the CDM register at practical completion and retain a copy alongside the project audit export. Both together form a useful PI record for the project.
