Projects
Creating a project
Each job in your practice is a Haunch project. Creating one sets up the workspace — tasks, files, meetings, fees and the audit trail all attach from the start.
Open the form
- 1Navigate to Projects from the left rail.
- 2Click + New project in the top-right corner. The form opens as a modal overlay.
Fill in project details
Only the project name is required. Everything else can be filled in or changed later from the project overview.
- Project name
- A clear, human-readable name — for example "Maple Grove Extension" or "Cork Road Bridge Inspection".
- Job ref
- Your internal reference number (e.g. AJD231). Appears in lists and on all exported documents.
- Client
- The client company or person. Free text — you can link a formal contact record later from the project overview.
- Location
- Town, county or site address. Useful for filtering and for audit exports.
Set the project lead
The project lead is the engineer accountable for the job. They appear on all project records, in the practice dashboard, and on exported documents.
NoteYou can leave the lead unassigned and set it later from the project overview.
Set dates
Start date and deadline are optional. The deadline shows in the Projects table and feeds into capacity planning — worth filling in as early as you know it.
Add assignees
Assignees are the team members working on this project. Tick anyone who needs access. You can add or remove assignees later from the project overview.
Create the project
- 1Click Create project. The button stays disabled until you've entered a project name.
- 2The project appears at the top of the Projects table with Active status.
- 3Click the project row to open its workspace.
TipHaunch opens the audit trail at this moment. The first entry records who created the project and when — automatically.
