Creating tasks & RFIs
Tasks are the core work-tracking unit in Haunch. Each task is numbered, assigned and tracked within a project — the way GitHub issues work for code, Haunch tasks work for engineering work.
What is a task?
A task represents a single piece of work: producing a drawing, completing a calculation, chasing an RFI, submitting to building control. Tasks belong to a project and carry a stable number — for example #12 — that never changes even if the task is moved or reassigned.
Tasks can have a label (RFI, Drawing, Calc, Council, Building Regs), an assignee, a due date, a description, a checklist and one or more sub-tasks.
Creating a task
- 1Open a project and click the Tasks tab.
- 2Click + New task at the top of the list, or press N.
- 3Type the task title and press Enter to save it quickly, or click into the task to open the full detail view and fill in labels, assignees and a due date.
Setting a label
Labels categorise the type of work. They're workspace-wide, so the same set appears across every project.
- RFI
- Request for information — something you're waiting on from a client, contractor or other party.
- Drawing
- A drawing or document that needs to be produced or issued.
- Calc
- A structural or civil engineering calculation.
- Council
- A planning or council submission.
- Building Regs
- A building control or building regulations submission.
Assigning & due dates
Open the task detail and set the assignee from the team member picker. Add a due date using the date field. Overdue tasks appear highlighted in the task list and surface on the assignee's My work view.
