Tasks
Checklists & sub-tasks
Break larger tasks into trackable steps using checklists, or create true sub-tasks that can be assigned and tracked independently.
Checklists
A checklist is a list of ordered steps within a task. Progress (e.g. 2/5) is shown as a bar in the task list view — so you can see completion at a glance without opening the task.
- 1Open the task detail.
- 2Click Add checklist.
- 3Type each item and press Enter to add the next.
- 4Check items off as you complete them — the progress bar updates immediately.
Sub-tasks
Sub-tasks are child tasks linked to a parent. Unlike checklist items, sub-tasks have their own number, assignee, due date and label. They appear indented under the parent in the task list and roll up to the parent's progress.
- 1Open the parent task.
- 2Click Add sub-task.
- 3Fill in the sub-task title, label and assignee.
- 4The sub-task gets its own task number and can be opened and edited independently.
NoteClosing all sub-tasks doesn't automatically close the parent. You'll still need to close the parent task yourself.
